Aston Martin DB4s were produced from October 1958 to June 1963 and by the end of the production run there were five distinct series. The chassis numbers ran from DB4/101 to DB4/249 and were produced from October 1958 to February 1960. In it's early production the bonnet was hinged at the back and an aluminium fan cowl was added from DB4/201 onwards. The chassis numbers ran from DB4/250 to DB4/600 and were produced from January 1960 to April 1961. The bonnet now hinged at the front and optional extras included, an oil cooler, electric windows and overdrive. The chassis numbers ran from DB4/601 to DB4/765 and were produced from April 1961 to Sept 1961. Modifications at this stage included seperate rear lights on chrome plates, modified handbrake, covers over the clutch and brake pedal linkages and an optional 4.09:1 axle ratio. The chassis numbers ran from DB4/766 to DB4/950 and were produced from Sept 1961 to October 1962. The bonnet scoop was now lowered, the rear lights recessed into the body and a new grille with seven verticle bars added. The additional option of a Vantage/Special Series engine was offered with three SU carburettors, the first car fitted with this engine was DB4/839/L. A Vantage Series was produced from DB4/951 to the start of the Series V. The chassis numbers ran fromDB4/1001 to DB4/1215 and were produced from September 1962 to June 1963. With this Series the roof and front wing line were raised and the rear wings extended, this provided a lot more space and leg room and led on nicely to the production of the DB5. Aston Martin DB4GTs were produced from 1959 to 1963 with chassis numbers running from DB4GT/101 to DB4GT/202. Numbers 192 and 196 to 198 were not originally used but were later given to the "Sanction II" cars. In October 1960 at the London Motor Show, 19 cars were offered with an elegant lightweight body by Carrozzeria Zagato, called the DB4GT Zagato these were given chassis numbers 176 to 193, 199 and 200. A selection of the parts that we make for the DB4 and DB4GT can be found in the relevant section menu above which corresponds with the Parts Book Plates.
