Aston Service Dorset : Front Brake


The front drum brakes are 12in x 2 i/4in Girling.

The shoes are operated by two 1in diameter wheel cylinders of simple construction, located diametrically opposite each other on the back plate.


Aston Service Dorset : Rear Brake

The rear Girling drum brakes fitted to all DB2 and DB2/4 MkI cars up to Chassis Number 1200 are 12in x 1.656in.

Later MkII's from 1201 onwards have 12in x 1 3/4in, hydraulic non-servo, sliding shoe, with internal handbrake mechanism.

These shoes are hydraulically operated by a hydraulic wheel cylinder, which consists of a die cast aluminum housing, two pistons complete with dust covers's, seals, bakelite seal retainers and retaining spring.
